The Call of the Wild is an adventure novel by Jack London, published in 1903 and set in Yukon, Canada, during the 1890s Klondike Gold Rush. The central character of the story is a dog named Buck, who exists in a time when strong sled dogs were highly valued.
CHAPTER 2: Buck learns what is expected of him and knows he must adjust to the new rules of savagery to survive.
